i learned that the steps to solve these problems are:
step 1-read the problem carefully
step 2-analyze the problem
step 3-estimate the answer
step 4-set up strategy sentences to set up and solve math sentences
step 5-make sure i've answered the right question and check my work
for example, if someone had 40 dollars and wanted to take himself and three friends to a movie that costs 7.50 per person, how much could he spend on snacks for each person?
the question i'd be trying to figure out is 'how much money can he spend on each person?'
