Today i just went back and worked on learning how to solve an equation out of a problem. I am not doing very good because i dont understand how to put tha problem and equation together to make a formula...

i can divide monomials

i learned how to multiply and divide monomials. to multiply, you multiply the coefficients and then you add the exponents together. to divide, you pretend that its a fraction and divide them, and then you subtract the bottom exponent from the top exponent. i passsed both mastery tests.

i can determine the truth value of a statement

i learned how to plug in the variables into an expression to find out whether it's true or not. they told me to substitute x and y for certain numbers and then figure out the answer. they would also give me the answer and have me find out what one of the variables was. i took a mastery test over this and got 10 out of 10 correct.

Today i just went over a couple different catagories that i did not do so well on before. I learned more on how to solve exponenets. And how to put them in to problems.. And solve for the over all exponent and the exponents base.

the lesson taught me that when you have the same variables, you just add them together. like 3x+2x=5x. and when they have the same exponents to just add those too. like 3 to the third power times 5 to the second power would be 15 to the fifth power.

I Will Multiply Monomials (Courseware/Exempt)

Today I learned about how to multiply monomials with exponents. I Also learned how to do it when there was more than one exponent and monomial. I Think i am doing very well with this section. There is some hard parts like when you have to do the negitive exponents or base numbers and combine them to make one base number and one exponent. Thats all i learned today.

today I read three different short stories. The first one was pretty short. Second one was in between, but the third one was the longest story out of all. I had to read the story first then they asked me a couple questions i had to answer about what i had read, and when i forgot what the answer was i would just go back and re-read the story again.

i can match the terms antibiotic, vaccine, and disinfectant to their descriptions.

i learned many ways to avoid germs and viruses.
wash your hands regularly and make sure to keep up with your
vaccinations. i learned that asbestos causes lung cancer and other lung problems
and lead causes brain damage.

I Will Subtract Monomials (Courseware/Exempt)

Today I learned what monomials are. And how to add and subtract them. I also learned that if there is one negitive in a subtraction problem then make the problem have two negitaves and them make it be a addition problem then you will get your answer.

i can identify the meaning of disease, bacteria, virus, germ, and pathogen.

i learned that there are 2 types of diseases. communicable, and noncommunicable.
communicable diseases are contagious and noncommunicable diseases are not.
AIDS is an example of a communicable disease because it can be spread. i learned that
people who have AIDS don't die from the infection itself, they die because it destroys their immune system so they can't fight off other diseases.

i can identify important steps in the water cycle, the nitrogen cycle, & the carbon/oxygen cycle

i learned that the water cycle has 4 major parts. evaporation, transpiration, condensation and precipitation. the fresh water we drink only makes up about 1% of the earth so the water cycle is very important since it recycles the water we need to drink to survive. the nitrogen cycle was a little confusing for me but i understood it enough to pass the mastery test. the carbon/oxygen cycle shows the relationship between plants and animals. plants give off oxygen for us to use and we give off carbon dioxide for the plants to use.

Today i learned how to multiply divide add and subtract when you have varibles. You just have to prenthises it then multiply it out. I'm doing well and picking up on my speed to get these done.

I can modify sentences to eliminate comma splices

today i learned how to find out if a sentance is a run on sentence or not. I also found out how to fix it if it is a run on sentence. For example if a sentence has a comma and they talk bout something then go on talking bout something else. What you can do is remove that comma and put a period to make it into more then one sentence.

i can identify the functions of producers, consumers, and decomposers in an ecosystem and match terms to their descriptions.

i learned that producers are able to make food themselves.
such as plants and phytoplankton. consumers eat the producers.
the primary consumer is the first one to eat the plant or phytoplankton.
the secondary consumer eats the primary consumer, and the tertiary consumer
eats the secondary consumer. decomposers break down dead organisms. some examples of decomposers are worms and bacteria. i also learned that herbivores eat plants, carnivores eat meat, and omnivores eat both plants and meat. most humans are classified as omnivores. i learned that if you have too much or too less of a certain species, it could affect alot of animals and some would lose their source of energy which will cause them to gradually die off because we all need energy to survive.

i can match terms dominant, recessive, complete dominance, codominance, & incomplete dominance to their definitions.

i learned that dominant means one allele masks the other,
incomplete dominance means on allele doesn't completely mask the other.
codominance means their both dominant and recessive means there
is no dominant allele present so the recessive trait shows up in the phenotype.

i can understand key vocabulary words from passages

today i worked on my vocabulary i went through all of them there were only ten. I wrote them down and i read through them couple times and i can understand quite a few now. Also i learned some new words which are .. surly meaning unkind or unfreindly and inexorable meaning impossible to change or stop.

I learned how to identify text aids today. I also learned the difference between Expository text and Narrative text in a story.

Today I learned how to make two negitives postive and postive a negitive and a negitive a postive. I also learned how to switch a fraction that has a numerater and a deomarater both negitive into a decimal. It is still confusing when it is in the whole problem together. But a little more pratice and ill have it down.

I Am learning how to do prenthesies, exponents, multiplation, division, addition, and subtracting all in order form. They are a little harder for me but i think i'm doing good i just am having a little trouble with the negitive fractions. I Learned that if you put them in order and remember pemdas/please excuse my dear aunt sally it helps to know the exact order to do the problem.

today ilearned that a prompt means something that tells you to write a story. A prompt should include an audience , a topic or focuse and clues bout the topic and levels of detail. you have to follow the steps in order to write a good story.

i am able to match the terms genotype, phenotype, homozygous, & heterozygous to their descriptions or definitions.

i already knew this stuff but i re-learned that genotype is the 2 alleles
and phenotype is the outcome of what the alleles made. homozygous means
two of the same alleles and heterozygous means 2 different alleles.

I can use a graphic to find and understand information from expository text

I learned that it is important to know how to do this because you need to know why are you reading this passage. And what does the graphic mean or show. Also how is the graphic and the text in the passage connected with each other.

Today i started to learn how to make the percents and decimals change either way. I'm having trouble with the percents and decimals in problem form. It is confusing to me and i am not understanding it well.

I can modify pronouns to stand for omitted words in a comparasion

today i learned how to use or change me to I he to him or she to her. It is really important to pay attention to the different ways there is to write a sentance if you write me is smart , that dont make sence and a better way to write it is I am smart. It is important to know what kind of words to use in your sentence so they can make sence.

i can identify components of dna and how they fit together in a double helix.

i learned that dna means deoxyribonucleic acid and rna means
ribonucleic acid. dna has 2 strands and rna has one strand.
i also learned that a group of amino acids linked together is
a protein.

i learned that visual aids are there to help you better
understand the text that you are reading.

I Can Convert Percents Greater than 100% to Decimals

Today I learned how to do percents into decimals without using a caculater. I also learned that if you move the percent over to the left two spaces then it would give you the decimal. And if you move it to the right two times you will have a percent.

i am learning to convert decimals into percents and percents into decimals. I't is actually kinda hard. But i'm working on it.

i learned that if you don't know the meaning of a word,
you should read the sentence before it and the sentence
after it and you might be able to infer what the meaning
of the word is by it's surrounding context.

I can identify various types of poetry

today i went back to the different types of poems i wanted to make sure i understand them a little bit better. I wrote all the different ones there are. Here are some i ddnt quite know .. Elegy is a type of poem written to commerate someone who is dead. A quatrain is a 4-line stanza with varios meters and rhyme schemes. A Tercet is a 3-line stanza; when all 3-lines rhytm they are called a triplet.

Today i learned how to mutliply percents and decimals. I also feel that i am gettiing better at the problem sovling.

I learnd how to use citition. Its really important if you get information of some sort from any website or magazine. You should provide the citation so you can also help people as a referance to have something to look back at. Also there is a certain order when you do citition how it should go its pretty long so i wrote the steps down.

i learned the definition of 4o new words today and
i took a test to see if i remembered them and i
remembered about 35 or 36 of them.

I can use mental math to solve problems with fractions and percents.

Today i learned how to divide fractions and percents together. I am getting better at this kind of stuff.

I can use a strategy to locate whats important in expository text

I learned how to figure out what is important in expository text. There is some steps that you need to know to find out whats important and whats not. I think it is pretty easy if you take notes of all the steps . That way you know what to do and you wont have much problems.

i learned how to decide whether a passage is expository or narrative.
if it is narrative the author is telling a story and if it is expository, it will
be all facts. i mastered this section.

i learned how to find out how to notice when a poem sounds either happy, sad, or mad . There are different kinds .

i learned different strategies for answering 3 types of questions that
you will find on a reading test. for sentence completion, think of words
that could fit in the blank, then find an answer choice similar to that in
the answer choices. for analogy, read the whole passage carefully. and for passage
comprehension, if the text is expository, read the passage quickly. if the text is
narrative, read the passage carefully.

i learned the different kinds of poetry . There are quite a few differnt ones . I still am trying to get to know all of them .

i can multiply common fractions.

i learned how to multiply common fractions. you find common multiples
of the numerators and the denominators and then you multiply the
numerators by the numerators and the denominators by the denominators
and you get your answer.

i can find the square roots of imperfect squares.

i learned that to find the square root of an imperfect square
you have to find the perfect square that is less than it, and find
the square root of that. then, the number falls between two consecutive
integers. i took the mastery test for this and passed it.

I Can Review Fractions And Sets.

Today I learned how to add and subtract fractions with different denominators. I passed my mastery test for it. I also started with exponents and passed that mastery test too.

i can investigate positive and negative integers and define the additive inverse or opposite of a number.

i learned that the additive inverse is just the opposite of the number.
the additive inverse of 7 is -7. the additive inverse of -9 is 9. i also learned how
to add and subtract positive and negative integers, and completed 3 mastery tests
on my first try.
