I can draw inferences such as conclusions, generalizations, and predictions and support them with text, evidence, and experience.

Today I learned how to take something I read but didn't fully understand and make some inferences from it. As I was reading I would remember questions that I had, and once I got to the end I would find ways the article answered them for me. Then I put them together along with some background knowledge that I may have had. Then I asked myself if my inference makes sense now that I have finished the passage.

I can find a location on a map when given coordinates.

Today, I learned about coordinates on a map/globe. Coordinates can locate any given town, city, state etc.
The coordinates are made up of two factors. First,the latitude coordinates. This first coordinate can range from 0 to 90 degrees North or South. The second is the Longitude coordinate. This coordinate can range from 0 to 180 degrees East to West. Where ever these two lines intersect on a map/globe it gives you coordinates that indicate were the location that is needed is at. There are no two coordinates that are exactly the same otherwise it means that they're taking up the same landmass at the same time which is impossible.

The englightenment philosophers believed that the colonists should have their rights protected and their opinions should be voiced and accounted for. They thought that having a government that ruled everything, was not the way to do things. Democratic government was what they wanted for everyone.

Today I learned about the struggles Harriet went through her first years of being a slave. But I also learned that before her parents both died, slavery to her was different then for others. She was not always treated harshly, for people admired her family for being so respectful and hardworking so they told her parents before their death she would be well taken care of. Altogether I'm learning what it was like to be a slave from not only a child's perspective but a female child, which is far different from that of a male child for they had different roles and rules since they were different genders.

In order to survive or live in this world, you're going to have to have three things. Food, water and shelter. Shelter is what protects you from the weather but the environment around you can also be considered as shelter and we all need it to survive. For example, if a rabbit that had long white fur and lived in a snowy environment, it would be able to adapt quickly because the fur is protecting it from the cold and it's coat is blending into the snow so it won't be as easy to catch for preditors. If it lived in another environment, like a desert, it wouldn't be able to survive because preditors would be able to spot it quickly.

There are two maps that are commonly used by an average traveler. Those maps are called a topographical map and a road/country map. Each map can benefit you in different ways. Topographical maps are used to distinguish certain features of the land. They can show were mountains, plateaus, rivers,canyons etc., are located. Road/country maps are used to identify were roads and interstates etc. are at, but can also show you what state your in or are going to. Maps are really useful when traveling, hiking and or even hunting.

Latitude lines are also parrallel and will never intersect, they go horizontally which is opposite of longitude lines. There is a main latitude line known as the equator which is at exactly 0 degrees and seperates the world into two hemispheres, north and south. Longitude lines are vertical lines that extend from the North pole and the South pole. There is also a main line that divides the globe into two halves known as the prime meridian and its point of origin is located in England and it also sits at exactly 0 degrees. The two sides that are made are known as the western and eastern hemisphere.
